I've been going through some Batman comics at the local Boders Bookstore. So far, I've read: - Hush
- The Long Halloween
- Dark Victory
- Year One
- The Black Glove (3/4's really....)
- The Dark Knight Returns
- A Death in the Family
- Arkham Asylum
- The Killing Joke
There are a couple of others I've probably forgotten, but not a bad start. Any other suggestions for Batman stories? I've also read the Infinite Crisis story, as I was just catching up with the animated JL and JL: Unlimited cartoons (I haven't had cable since 2003, so missed most of those shows). I picked up the DC Universe Encyclopedia as well. I really like it, since it's pretty concise and provides pictures of most of the entries. Of course, they had to cut a lot from the the stories of each hero/villain and they refer to the "Crisis" changing events, without usually referring to which Crisis made the alterations in the character. Kind of fun to look through and see all the cornball characters DC has made over the years. The thought of a Green Lantern resembling a squirrel (Ch'P) is great! I grew up around people like my brother and classmates who thought Marvel was way better than DC could ever be. However, I'm kind of seeing why some people enjoy DC so much. Yeah, some of the characters are a bit one dimensional, but some, like Troy, Wonder Woman's reflection brought to life via magic, have quite a bit of back story to them.

I'm not a huge DC fan but those are literally the CREAM of the Batman crop... I can reccomend some but most will be hard to find- seems like you named all the radily available/major ones.
I LOVED The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum...
Just finished "Welcome to Hoxford" because I was in awe of the artwork by Ben Templesmith on 30 Days of Night- I liked the story well enough that I went into a comic shop ( O.o ) and asked if they knew of any other books he had done. They said Hoxford was mediocre at best and that I should pick up "Fell" or "Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse" I've got Issue 1 of Fell... haven't read it yet.... and i'm saving my pennies for Wormwood- which looks pretty amazing.
